Boarding Information
We are happy to announce that we can now offer short term boarding for your chinchilla(s).
Before we agree to board any chinchilla we will require you to visit our home and approve of the conditions.
Although we believe that conditions would be optimal, many people have different opinions and for this reason we require you to come see where your chin will be staying and this also allows us to meet you face to face before hand and discuss any concerns you may have.
As of now the longest we will board is one week. Should you need an extended stay we can discuss this and come up with a fair price.
Boarding costs are as follows:
$8 per day
$50 for a week (7 days)
If your chin stays:
1-2 nights- it will include feeding and watering only
3-4 nights- your chin will receive all feedings and watering as well as a dust bath
5-7 nights- your chin will receive all feedings and watering as well as 2 baths and a “treat” if requested by the owner
Cages-
We would prefer that whenever possible the owner should bring the chinchillas cage from home.
But we understand that in some cases this is not an option so we do have cages available at no extra cost.
Our boarding cages are small but we feel they are adequate for a short term stay.
The cages we use are chinchilla safe (no plastic, pine shelving and aspen bedding) and clean.
Accessories-
We suggest bringing at least one of your chins chew toys from home when they come to stay.
If you would prefer, we can provide toys at an additional cost for the stay.
Also if your chin uses a cuddle buddy or hammock we recommend bringing that to help them feel more at home.
We do provide a sterilized water bottle and food dish for each cage, but if you would prefer to bring yours from home that is fine.
Food-
Since chinchillas digestive system is so sensitive we do REQUIRE you to bring enough food to last your chinchilla the duration of the stay (plus some extra in case of spills or if you have to extend the stay).
The only exception to this is if you feed Traditions Chinchilla pellets. If you do feed Traditions we would be more than happy to provide the food for your chin each day for a cost of .50 cents per day.
We will provide unlimited timothy hay at no additional cost during your chins stay as well as filtered water.
Procedures during the stay-
As you will see when you come for your visit, your Chinchilla will be housed in our Secured CLIMATE CONTROLLED room. This room is monitored at all times to make sure temps and humidity are at proper levels. Cages are cleaned on a regular basis. Feed/Water will be fresh and clean on a daily basis.
*Other things you need to know*
You must provide us with your regular vets phone number and location in case of an emergency.
You must also provide us with contact phone numbers for yourself in case of an emergency.
We will accept money orders or cash only for the cost of your chins nightly stay and supplies. Payment must be paid in full when you drop your chinchilla off.
You must drop your chin off for boarding. We will not come pick your chin up.
We require at least 48 hour notice if you need boarding services. (We will make exceptions for emergencies). But we do prefer to make arrangements at least two weeks in advance to make sure that we will be available during the time you need us and to ensure that we have boarding space available.
The day of your arrival please allow 30 minutes to get your chin settled and to fill out a brief contract about your chins stay.
